LIMERICK, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2006--Teleflex
Incorporated (NYSE:TFX) announced today that it has acquired the
assets of Taut Inc., an innovative provider of instruments and devices
for minimally invasive surgical procedures. The business will become
part of Teleflex Medical, a division of Teleflex Incorporated with
2005 revenues of over $830 million. In 2005, Taut's annual revenues
for these product lines were approximately $10 million. Teleflex is
currently a distributor of Taut products in Europe. The terms of the
agreement were not disclosed.
Taut specializes in laparoscopic surgery and other minimally
invasive solutions, offering products for general surgery and
specialized gynecological, bariatric, pediatric and urologic
procedures. Foremost among Taut product lines is the revolutionary
design of ADAPt(R) bladeless laparoscopic access devices. Designed to
minimize complications in laparoscopic surgery, ADAPt ports are an
alternative to traditional bladed trocars. Taut product lines also
include a range of specialty offerings for surgeons including
cholangiogram catheters and related products, a common bile duct
exploration kit, insufflation needles and latex-free wound drainage
solutions.
"The Taut product lines are a great fit with the Teleflex Medical
family of brands. These products continue the Teleflex legacy of
offering innovative medical devices that command surgeon preference
and reduce the risks, operating time and expense of surgery," said
Ernest Waaser, president of Teleflex Medical. "Teleflex has already
achieved success as a distributor of Taut products in Europe and our
global sales force will be able to promote and extend the product
line."
