Site Highlights Product Features and Resources for Compliance with
CDC and OSHA Regulations
LIMERICK, Pa., Oct 04, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
The Arrow(R) ErgoPack(TM) System is a human factors research-based vascular
access insertion system designed to provide defense against known
sources of bloodstream infection. Teleflex(R) recently launched a new
website to highlight the features and benefits of this system, which is
designed to help healthcare institutions attain and sustain the goal of
zero Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSIs) while
reducing procedure times and allowing for more efficient insertions.
The website offers:
-
Detailed explanation of the ErgoPack System, including video examples
showing use of the system.
-
Supporting detail outlining the System's approach to meeting 2011 CDC
guidelines for protecting staff and patients, as well as OSHA and
Sharps safety as directed under the Needlestick Safety and Prevention
Act.
-
Instructions for use and full explanations of the antimicrobial
catheter technology, including ARROWg+ard Blue PLUS(R) and Chlorag+ard(TM)
technology, which provide defense against all five sources of
bloodstream infection.
-
Additional information, such as a free vascular access insertion
poster, access card and ErgoPack white paper.
The site is specifically targeted to provide information for healthcare
providers and infection control professionals. Healthcare institutions
across the United States have been encouraged to develop protocols and
processes to help reduce the rates of preventable hospital acquired
infections. Many hospitals have started initiatives to drive down their
CLABSI rate, driven by patient safety concerns and in direct response to
the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid's (CMS) 2008 announcement that it
would no longer reimburse for Serious Reportable Events, or "Never
Events," for Medicare as of October 1, 2008 and for all Medicaid
patients in 2012. The site and the ErgoPack System are designed to
address the issue of "Never Events" and respond to requirements for
mandatory public reporting of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs),
specifically CLABSIs. Teleflex is committed to supplying technology and
tools to help hospitals attain and sustain the goal of zero CLABSIs.
