Teleflex Purpose-Driven Trivia Challenge Supports Quality Outcomes
and Safety for Patients Worldwide
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2013--
Teleflex Incorporated, a leading global provider of medical devices for
critical care and surgery, and the American
Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) today announced the
Purpose-Driven Trivia Challenge to be hosted at the Teleflex booth 1804
during the ANESTHESIOLOGY™
2013 annual meeting (October 12-16). The trivia challenge will
benefit the Lifebox
Foundation, a charity of the ASA
Charitable Foundation.
The Purpose-Driven Trivia Challenge aligns with the theme of this year’s
meeting, “Global Partners in Quality Outcomes and Patient Safety,” along
with Teleflex’s overall mission to enhance patient outcomes by providing
products that help clinicians protect against infection and improve
patient and provider safety. The trivia challenge tests attendees’
knowledge of anesthesiology in practice, including clinical protocols
and safety standards. Teleflex will make a donation to the ASA
Charitable Foundation Lifebox campaign for each correct answer, up to
$25,000 in total. The challenge will complement other booth activities,
allowing attendees to engage with Teleflex executives and learn how the
company’s products can enhance the quality and safety of their
anesthesiology practice.
“We are excited to return to ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2013,” said Cary Vance,
President, Anesthesia & Respiratory Division, Teleflex. “The
ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2013 annual meeting is the culmination of our year’s
engagement with the broader anesthesiology community. In addition to
hosting the Purpose-Driven Trivia Challenge, we look forward to sharing
updates on our portfolio of proven medical brands, products, and
technologies, as well as sharing our approach to purpose-driven
innovation with conference attendees.”
The Lifebox Foundation helps deliver the world’s foremost low-cost and
high-quality pulse oximeter to thousands of people undergoing surgery in
under-resourced countries. Pulse oximeters, non-invasive medical devices
that check the level of oxygen in a patient’s bloodstream and sound an
alarm as soon the slightest unsafe change is detected, are used as a
standard in many hospitals in countries such as the United Kingdom and
the United States. More than 70,000 operating rooms providing about 31.5
million operations annually in underdeveloped countries do not have
pulse oximeters.
“The ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2013 annual meeting provides an important
opportunity for leaders in anesthesiology to gather and share scientific
knowledge to help provide the highest quality and safest care,” said ASA
Charitable Foundation President Alexander A. Hannenberg, M.D. “Through
our campaign for Lifebox, and other initiatives being driven by the ASA
Charitable Foundation, we are able to impact surgical safety around the
globe. We are thrilled that Teleflex is supporting our Lifebox campaign
and are grateful for their generous donation to surgical patients
worldwide.”
