Presentations Will Also Emphasize Clinician Education and Expanding
Scope of Practice for Vascular Access Specialists
WAYNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 23, 2015--
Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:TFX), a leading provider of medical
technologies for critical care and surgery, will showcase its new Arrow
Endurance™ Extended Dwell Peripheral Catheter System at the
29th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Association for Vascular Access,
in Dallas, Texas, to be held Sept. 26-29, 2015.
The Arrow Endurance™ System will be discussed at a Platinum
Showcase titled “The New Age of Midlines and the Arrow Endurance™
Extended Dwell Peripheral Catheter System”, presented by Nancy Moureau,
BSN, RN, CRNI, CPUI, VA-BC™. The event will be held Monday,
Sept. 28 from 4:50 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. in room Grapevine A.
Teleflex will have the extended dwell catheter system exhibited at Booth
501 in the Exhibit Hall so attendees can have hands-on experience with
the device.
The Arrow Endurance™ System is cleared by the FDA to dwell up
to 29 days. The Arrow Endurance™ System enables hospitals to
avoid using multiple peripheral IVs to achieve longer dwell times while
also avoiding the extra clinical risks and expenses associated with a
peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC). The Arrow Endurance™
Catheter is intended for short-term use (up to 29 days) to permit
delivery of infusion therapies, pressure monitoring, high pressure
injection (325 psi max.), and withdrawal of blood. To learn more about
the Arrow Endurance™ Extended Dwell Peripheral Catheter
System, please visit arrowendurance.com.
Teleflex's activities at this year’s AVA will focus on clinician
education, enabling non-physician inserters to insert CVCs and arterial
lines, and supporting clinicians in always selecting the right line for
their patients.
“There are many vital choices that must be made so a patient gets the
safest, most effective IV therapy possible. Our philosophy of “Right
Line. Right Patient. Right Time.™” helps us deliver products
that align with safe patient care,” said Jay White, President of the
Vascular Access Division of Teleflex. “The Arrow Endurance™
Catheter continues to build upon this philosophy. We look forward to
launching this product at this year’s AVA meeting as well as providing
an additional line-up of clinical education opportunities.”
A breakfast symposium titled “Growing the Vascular Access Specialty:
Expanding Your Practice to CVCs, Arterial Lines, and Beyond” will be
held on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in room Texas C.
The presenters are clinical nurse educator Connie Girgenti, RN, VA-BC™;
Keegan Mahoney, BS, RRT, vascular access specialist in Mesa, Arizona;
and Amy Bardin-Spencer. Girgenti is the co-author of the recently
published article, “A Vascular Access Team’s Journey to Central Venous
Catheter and Arterial Line Placement”, which appeared in the June 2015
issue of the Journal of the Association for Vascular Access.
Teleflex thought leaders are involved in several clinician education
offerings at the conference. Among them is a dinner symposium,
“Chlorhexidine: The Agent, the Legacy, the Novelty” with presenters
Kamna Giare-Patel, MS, RN and Amy Bardin-Spencer, MS, RRT, VA-BC™.
Patel is Director, Research and Development at Teleflex, and she has
done extensive work in developing chlorhexidine protected catheters.
Bardin-Spencer is a Senior Clinical Marketing Specialist for the
company. The symposium will be held Sunday, Sept. 27 from 6:15 p.m. to
8:15 p.m. in room Texas C.
Teleflex will also have clinical education activities at its booth,
where phantoms and models will be used to demonstrate the full range of
the company’s vascular access devices. The company is also offering its
popular Vascular Access Procedural Cadaver Lab at the meeting site.
